Group Bike Ride Sept. 29th!
Please join the Bellows Falls Community Bike Project for a group bike ride, lunch, ice cream and fun.
The Ride
On Sunday, September 29, 2024, we are planning a group ride of the delightful Norwottuck Trail in Northampton, MA. The trail is paved, nearly flat and runs through conserved land with views of forest, beaver ponds and meadows with a trail bridge crossing over the Connecticut River. The trail is mostly shaded by trees. The ride is suitable for all ages and all abilities.
You can ride on your own, at your own level, or you can team up with one of the Bike Project volunteers who will be riding at different paces, (turtle, possum, rabbit) if you prefer to stick with a group.
We will ride/explore in the morning, get together for some lunch, and ride/explore a bit more in the afternoon (or just relax).
Getting There and Back
The plan is to be at the Norwottuck Trail parking, off Damon Rd, Northampton by approximately 10 am.
If you have transportation and a way to carry your bike, you can meet us at the trailhead.
If you need a ride, or want to carpool, Bike Project volunteers will be teaming up to make sure everyone who wants to go, can get there. We hope to meet up in Bellows Falls, at the Bike Project parking lot at 8am and leave by 830am to be in Northampton by 10. Let us know if you want a ride for you and/or your bike so we can plan accordingly.
The return plan is to leave the Norwottuck Trail parking around 330 pm and be back to Bellows Falls before 5 pm.
Lunch and Ice Cream
There will be planned food and ice cream stops (optional if you just want to ride or if you want to brown bag a picnic lunch). Bike project volunteers will be meeting up for lunch at The Quarters restaurant around Noon (there are vegan and vegetarian menu options, https://www.hadleyquarters.com/menu ). There will also be another planned stop for ice cream at Herrell’s Ice Cream and Bakery (dairy free options too). The cost of lunch at The Quarters is estimated to be around $15. Ice cream at Herrel’s around $3.50.
